Residential Communities |

Whether it is Fiber-To-The-Home, Ethernet-To-The-Home, xDSL, or High Speed Wireless
networks our residential services are designed to cater for all these technologies.
The TV set is the most popular domestic device that is suitable for the receiving and
playing of multimedia content. By connecting a TV set to a broadband network over
a communication interface the Set-Top Box (STB) a TV set becomes the most available
device for the interactive viewing and playing of multimedia content.
The STB, extended by appropriate interfaces for managing home appliances
(household appliances, heating/cooling, supervision, etc.), performs as a Home Gateway.
Users at home can use one or more TV sets to interactively view a large number of live
TV channels, movies of their own choosing, TV shows, and interesting educational and
informative video content, which they select in the same way as with video/CD recorder
functions; they can also play video games, browse the internet, receive and send e-mail
messages and control equipment at home. A user-friendly portal on the TV set and a simple
remote control provides the user with an easy way to select different multimedia services
and information about their use.
Multimedia services at home provide users with interesting, new services, which
increase users' interest in connecting to a broadband network. Also, users are willing
to pay more for multimedia services, which increases the revenues of the service
providers.
The services that eMediaNet currently offers to its residential customers are:
The strength of these services is that it does mean you can get access to recently
released movies, video clips, music titles, games--when and how you want
them--and be able to control your viewing of those movies (with fast forward,
rewind, and pause capabilities) from your PC or your remote control without having
to go to the video store.

Personal Video Recorder (PVR)
The PVR (Personal Video Recorder) service – replaces the well-known classical video recorder and
VHS cassettes. There are two content storing concepts applied:
• client PVR (cPVR) - the user must have a STB with a disk drive, and the content
is directly stored at the user. Service Time-Shifted TV is a part of the PVR service that
enables a temporary pausing of live TV. The user is allowed an undisturbed view of live
broadcasts without missing any part of the program.
• networked PVR (nPVR) - stores content at the service provider, where the user is assigned
disk capacities, and then actuates the saving by a simple click on the portal.

EPG
Electronic Program Guide Service – an Interactive TV program service enables the user to browse the TV
program and to look at broadcasts at any time. There are two modes: the service provider can prepare the
program and content in advance, and we can watch programs that will only be scheduled; or the
provider records a certain program and only enables the content to be viewed later.
In both cases the service effectively increases the quality of viewing TV programs. top
